Professor Anastasia Ailamaki has been recognized with a 2020 VLDB Endowment Award for pioneering research on the interaction between hardware micro-architecture and database engine performance. VLDB is a premier annual international forum for data management and very large databases. VLDB 2020 is the 46th VLDB conference and takes place in Tokyo / online.

Professor Ailamaki was also recently awarded membership to Academia Europaea, the prestigious pan-European Academy of Humanities, Letters, Law, and Sciences. She is one of the founding members of the Greek ACM-W Chapter and was a keynote speaker at this year's 2nd Summit on Gender Equality in Computing (GEC 2020).
