The Greek ACM-W Professional Chapter has established the Distinguished Service Award.
This annual award honors individuals who have made outstanding contributions to advancing gender equity in computer science and the digital professions in Greece.
Purpose of the Award
This award recognizes exceptional and sustained service that aligns with the Chapter’s mission:
- Promoting gender mainstreaming and equality in computing education and careers.
- Advancing opportunities for women and underrepresented groups in the digital sector.
- Supporting initiatives that dismantle barriers and advocate for inclusive excellence in STEM.
Eligibility
- Open to individuals of any gender who have made a significant impact through advocacy, mentoring, program development, policy, outreach, or leadership in the computing sector.
- Nominees must be active within the Greek computing community (academia, research, education, industry).
- Current members of the Award Committee are not eligible.
- Must be members of the ACM-W Greece chapter at the time of the nomination.
Selection Process
The Award Committee will comprise the Officers of the Chapter, who will evaluate nominations based on:
- Sustained and impactful service aligned with ACM-W’s goals.
- Commitment to diversity, inclusion, and equity in computing.
Award Details
The recipient receives:
- A formal certificate of recognition.
- Public recognition during the annual ACM Celebration of Women in Computing: Summit on Gender Equality in Computing, where it will be presented each year.
- Featured profile on the Chapter’s website and promotional materials.
